This is the original Barteaux heavy duty workhorse machetewith the Japanese-inspired Tanto, two-edge (piercing & cutting) bladeand textured polymer protective D-Handle introduced in the mid-1980sto replace the original hard-to-hold aluminum handles.
This particular machete was purchased in the 1990sfor a clearing project that never transpired.It got buried in the tool trunk and hadn\'t been seen for 30+ years.
It has never been used, much less sharpened or polished.The heavy 0.10\" blade shows a healthy grey patina with no rust or pitting.
This is a rare find for knife collectorsor for workers who value a heavy duty blade with a reasonable length and good balancethat can be wielded for extended periods of time without causing excessive fatigue.
