Marble Palace Mrs. O.H.P. Belmont House Newport Rhode Island c1900s UDB Postcard:

On the front of the postcard is a color illustration of a large, neoclassical mansion with a grand portico supported by four tall Corinthian columns. The building is light tan or gray with a flat roofline and a balustrade along the top. In front of the mansion, a wide, paved driveway curves toward the entrance, bordered by a dense hedge of blooming pink and blue hydrangeas. The sky is a pale blue with soft, white clouds. In the lower-right corner, printed text reads: Marble Palace, Mrs. O. H. P. Belmont\'s House, Newport, R. I. Vertical handwritten cursive text in dark ink is present along the right edge of the card, appearing to be a personal message.On the back of the postcard, the words Post Card are printed in a large, green, stylized font at the top center. To the left, running vertically along the edge, is the text H.C. LEIGHTON CO. PORTLAND, ME. MANUFACTURERS OF POSTAL CARDS MADE IN GERMANY. No 961. In the lower left corner, it reads This side is for the address. A green one-cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp from the Series 1902 is affixed to the upper right corner. There are two circular postmarks: one from ASHAWAY, R. I. dated MAY 25 1908 9 AM, and another from NORTH STONINGTON, CONN. dated MAY 25 9 AM 1908. The postcard is addressed in cursive handwriting to Mr. Lyle Gray, North Stonington, Conn.
