Possibly ‘professional’ version for projectingdissolving slides during reel changes in early
cinemas.
Manufacturer’s name plate gives it at WalterTyler’s ‘new pattern Helioscopic Lantern’.
Original illumination possibly incandescent gas mantleor acetylene (‘lime-light’) but now on the way to
conversion to forced-cooled, high-intensity electric lighting.
Includes a few hand-cranked rotating slides and ‘slip’ slidesachieving crude animation. Also selection of 3-1/4 in square
glass slides - but without wooden slidecarrier (these remain quite common).
