Here's Mad magazine #35 from October of 1957. This issue features a wraparound cover that begins on the back cover and is continued on the front. This issue commemorated Mad's fifth anniversary, and pictures Alfred E. Neuman standing near his birthday cake, surrounded by his friends. These "friends" include the mascots and spokesmen for a variety of products seen on television commercials and include the Campbell Soup Kids, Camel Cigarettes, Arm and Hammer, Speedy Alka-Seltzer, the Bufferin Man, The Cream of Wheat Chef (Rastus), Mr. Peanut, Johnnie Walker, Smokey Bear, the Lipton Tea Man, Bumble Bee Tuna, Elsie the Cow, the Dutch Boy Paints Boy, White Owl Cigars, Grayhound Busses, the Jolly Green Giant, Uncle Ben & Aunt Jemima, the Morton Salt Girl, and, of course, Santa Claus. Many others as well.
Cover is still attached to the pages at both staples, but is starting to pull away. Numerous small wrinkles and creases in the front cover, especially near the lower right corner. Spine is slightly rolled. Magazine includes two of the earliest contributions by Don Martin to Mad titled "Future TV Ad" and "The Seaside Incident." Page seven has an advertisement for Mad Jewelry (which is VERY hard to find today) I'm not a comic dealer so I wouldn't even attempt to grade this magazine. However, I'd probably call the condition "good-" mostly because of the folds and wrinkles on the cover, as well as the spine. Still, it displays well, especially considering that this magazine is almost 70 years old.
