Lot of 3 Antique / Vintage Face Powder Boxes — Coty Airspun, Woodbury’s Facial Powder & Langlois Shari Silk Powder Box

Lovely lot of three antique/vintage cosmetic powder boxes, each with beautiful decorative appeal. This lot includes one sealed full Coty Airspun powder box, one empty Woodbury’s Facial Powder box with romantic couple illustration, and one worn antique Langlois Shari New York silk/satin chinoiserie-style powder box with cherry blossoms, butterflies, and birds.

These boxes display beautifully together and would be wonderful for a vintage vanity, powder room display, boudoir collection, cosmetic advertising collection, or antique paper/packaging collection.

Woodbury’s Facial Powder Box — Empty

Round powder box featuring a romantic man and woman illustration on the lid with floral border decoration. The side reads “A skin you love to touch,” the famous Woodbury advertising slogan. The underside reads The Improved Woodbury’s Facial Powder, shade Blanche White, made by The Andrew Jergens Company.

Measurements: approximately 3.25” across x 1.75” tall

Contents: empty

Estimated date: likely 1920s, possibly early 1930s

Woodbury’s Facial Soap and cosmetics were made by The Andrew Jergens Company, founded in Cincinnati in 1882. Jergens purchased the Woodbury line in the early 1900s, and the slogan “A skin you love to touch” became one of the best-known beauty advertising slogans of the early 20th century. The slogan was first used in 1911, and Woodbury cosmetics were heavily promoted through the 1920s and 1930s.

2. Langlois Shari New York Silk / Satin Chinoiserie Powder Box

Antique octagonal powder box with silk/satin covering and chinoiserie-style decoration. The lid features cherry blossoms, flowers, and butterflies, while the sides show birds and floral designs. This is the Langlois Shari New York powder box style, often identified as a 1920s silk powder box.

Measurements: approximately 2.5” across x 1.75” tall

Contents: no bottom piece; display box only

Condition: worn antique condition, with age-related wear, fading, discoloration, edge wear, and missing bottom section

Estimated date: 1920s

This style of Shari Langlois New York powder box is associated with 1920s cosmetic packaging and is known for its silk/satin covering, cherry blossom and butterfly decoration, and exotic bird imagery on the sides. Similar examples are identified as 1920s and noted in collector references for cosmetic powder boxes.

3. Coty Airspun Face Powder Box — Sealed / Full

Round Coty Airspun powder box with orange background and repeated white powder puff design. Box is sealed and full of powder.

Measurements: approximately 3.25” across x 1.75” tall

Contents: sealed and full of powder

Estimated date: likely mid-20th century, approximately 1930s–1950s

Coty introduced its Air Spun / Airspun face powder in the 1930s, using an air-powered process as part of its marketing and product identity. The Airspun line became one of Coty’s long-running cosmetic products, and the powder puff motif is strongly associated with its vintage packaging.
