1950s 60s Photo Lot Polaroids Parties Swimsuits Dancing Vernacular Mid-Century
Lot of 27 original vintage family and social snapshots dating primarily from the 1950s–1960s, with one photograph marked August 1970.
A particularly evocative group documenting mid-century American social and domestic life. Images include swimsuit and leisure scenes, parties and cocktails, dancing, a guitar singalong, family and friends, fashion, candid horseplay, portraits, and interiors. Many of the same people recur throughout the collection, giving the group a sense of continuity rather than being an assortment of unrelated photographs.
The lot includes:
- 8 vintage Polaroid/instant photographs, several mounted to cardboard backing
- 4 black-and-white deckle-edge photographs
- 15 additional black-and-white and color snapshots
- 27 photographs total
- One color photograph marked “AUG 70” on the border
- Mix of posed and candid images
- Numerous period details including clothing, hairstyles, swimwear, furniture, interiors, parties, and everyday life
The photographs are undated unless otherwise noted. Based on photographic formats, clothing, hairstyles, and other visual details, the collection appears to span approximately the 1950s through 1970.
Vintage condition with varying degrees of age-related wear, discoloration, fading, staining, surface wear, edge/corner wear, and other imperfections. Several instant photographs show noticeable deterioration or discoloration. Some photographs have been mounted to cardboard backing. Please examine all photos carefully for condition and content.
All photographs came together from a single estate and are being offered together as found.
An unusual original group for collectors of vintage snapshots, vernacular photography, Polaroid photography, mid-century Americana, fashion, social history, and found photography.
