Offering a rare and desirable Elgin Americanlighter that has been personalized with afacsimile signature, Best Wishes Ed Sullivan. On the front appears encircled in applied black and silverthe initials ML.

\"This is 1 of the 300 \'signed lighters from the Ed Sullivan Show \"$425,000 Contest\" that ran for approximately 8 weeks, from July 1956 to August 1956. The \"Lincoln-Mercury Times\" magazine that advertised it along with a total of 2400other prizes, etc.\"
On the front appear encircled in applied black and silver the initials of one of the lucky winners, ML.
A little history:
Ed Sullivan was the creator and host of the television variety program \"The Toast of the Town\", which in 1955 was renamed The Ed Sullivan Show. Broadcast from 1948 to 1971, it set a record as the longest-running variety show in US broadcast history. \"It was, by almost any measure, the last great American TV show,\" said television critic David Hinckley.
His Sunday evening show had something for everybody, from the Russian Ballet to comedians, magicians, and musicians. The night\'s last act would usually be a famous singer or rock group. Elvis appeared on the show a few times; he introduced the Beatles to America. The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Johnny Cash, Bo Diddley, and Motown acts, to name a few.
Up until this month, The Steven Colbert Show is taped from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York nightly.
