My mom collected primitive antiques for 60+ years. She had a beautiful house and was very good at decorating with all her primitive pieces. I don't know where she got this so I unfortunately know nothing about the back story. This is a beautiful, high quality sheep on a stand. She had it in her living room under a really nice painting of a sheep. It measures 7 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches long by 2 1/2 inches deep. The base that the sheep is standing on is heavy and felted on the bottom. I looked at it closely to try to tell what the sheep itself was made out of but I am really not sure. Because it is attached to such a heavy base, I can't tell the weight of the sheep itself if that makes sense. I know it is not ceramic or chalkware. It is a hard material.......it is either carved wood or some kind of resin. I don't want to oversell it by saying it is carved wood but it could be. I just know it is not a mass produced piece and I have never seen another one like it. It is beautifully painted but it is not signed and I can find no markings on it. It is in very good condition but please review the high definition pictures for more condition detail.
