Fukusa (袱紗, also written as 帛紗 and 服紗) are a type of Japanese textile used for gift-wrapping or for purifying equipment during a Japanese tea ceremony.
Exquisite Vintage Japanese Fukusa – Symbol of Longevity (Kotobuki & Pine)
The design is in the "Reisho" (Clerical Script) or "Zuan" (Designed Kanji) style, where the character 寿 (Kotobuki), meaning "longevity" or "celebration," is transformed into the shape of a pine tree (Matsu).
This is a beautiful, authentic Japanese Fukusa traditional gift cloth, often used for formal gift exchanges such as weddings or New Year's celebrations.
Design & Craftsmanship:The central motif is a creative artistic rendition of the Kanji character "寿" (Kotobuki), which means "Congratulation" or "Longevity." The character is masterfully woven to resemble a Pine Tree (Matsu), another powerful symbol of eternal life and endurance in Japanese culture.
The piece features high-quality weaving with gold metallic threads (Kinran) that shimmer beautifully against the cream-colored background. It comes with traditional golden tassels at all four corners, signifying its formal use.
