Joseph Lancaster is an American photographer and mixed-media artist known for his work documenting the Navajo Nation in the late 1980s and 90s, creating educational materials for the Chinle Curriculum Center, and later evolving into collages using found desert objects, often exploring themes of energy and cosmos around Bears Ears. He used large-format cameras to capture Navajo culture and sacred sites, like his famous "Healing Hands" shot, before moving to Bluff, Utah, and blending photography with found objects to give new life to discarded items, creating unique art rooted in the landscape and history.
