Mike (Michael) Calnimptewa is the nephew of the legendary Cecil Calnimptewa,undoubtedly one of the most talented Hopi carvers, renowned for his manymasterpieces.
The Left Handed Kachina, or Siyangephoya, is a Hopi spirit known for doingeverything in reverse, symbolizing unconventional wisdom. He is distinguishedby carrying his bow in his right hand instead of his left and often featuresblack-and-white stripes on one side of his body. Often depicted as anexcellent, albeit peculiar, hunter, he appears in mixed dances, Powamuceremonies, and kivas.
