Extremely rare H.R. Giger / McFarlane Toys Li II large resin development/prototype sculpture. This is not the standard retail version of the McFarlane Toys Li II statue. This piece measures approximately 2 feet tall and weighs roughly 25–35 lbs.I personally worked for McFarlane Toys in the Mold Making/Castings Department in New Jersey during 2008–2009. This sculpture was kept in our department throughout the entire time I worked there. Our department consisted of only four employees.During the McFarlane Toys layoffs, I was included in the second round of layoffs. When I left the company, my supervisor gave this sculpture to me because he knew how much I loved the piece. I have personally owned it ever since.Based on where it was kept, its construction, size, and history within the mold-making/casting department, I believe this was a development/prototype piece associated with the production of McFarlane Toys’ H.R. Giger Li II sculpture. I cannot independently verify the exact production stage, so it is being described as a prototype/development sculpture rather than making a definitive claim that it was the final production master. The sculpture is made of heavy resin and has incredible detail throughout.Condition:
This is an original studio/development piece and does have damage from age, handling, and years of storage.Known condition issues include:* One side biomechanical/Alien-style figure is missing.
* The remaining side figure is present but is no longer attached.
* Some of the dimensional “GIGER” lettering is damaged/missing.
* There are chips, scuffs, paint wear, and other age/storage-related imperfections.
* Additional wear may be present. Please review all photographs carefully. The sculpture is being sold exactly as shown.I have intentionally not restored, repainted, repaired, or altered the piece, as collectors may prefer to preserve its original prototype/studio condition. This is a very unusual opportunity for an H.R. Giger, McFarlane Toys, prototype, production-art, dark-art, or collectible sculpture collector.Provenance:
Acquired directly while employed in the McFarlane Toys Mold Making/Castings Department in New Jersey during the 2008–2009 layoffs. A signed written provenance statement can be included with the sculpture.
