Einstein Mine MO. Fluorite Wolframite Zinnwaldite Jasper Epidote Polished Slab:
$45.00

Locality: Einstein Mine (Silvermines District), Madison County, Missouri

Dimensions: 3.25\" x 2.5\" x 1.75\"

Weight: 508 grams (1 lb 1.9 oz)

Form: Cabinet Display Slab (Polished Front Face, Natural Rough Back/Sides)

The Story of the Stone: Polymetallic Fluorite Breccia

Provenance: Charley Cox Collection (MSM)

This dense, 508-gram cabinet specimen is a phenomenal representation of the complex hydrothermal geology found in Missouri\'s historic Silvermines District.

The brilliant, mirror-polished display face reveals a chaotic and highly colorful breccia. A matrix of hydrothermal quartz and topaz binds together deep-red jaspellite, dark metallic wolframite, a nights sky worth of tiny brightly shining Pyrite crystals and flaky zinnwaldite (lithia mica). Most notably, this specimen features isolated pockets of rare local fluorite, alongside a massive, vibrant yellowish-green alteration zone of epidote and chlorite.

Knowing it\'s part of the sought after Cox Collection Provenance tells you its show stopper.

The front face has been expertly brought to a high-gloss lapidary finish. This glassy window highlights the intense 1.5-billion-year-old tectonic fracturing, while the rugged, natural back and sides provide a true geological cross-section of the raw ore body.

Historic Locality

The Einstein Mine area is a legendary 19th-century silver and tungsten operation along the St. Francis River. Specimens featuring this specific combination of fluorite, heavy metal ores, and brilliant jaspellite are highly prized by collectors of Precambrian Ozark geology.
