WHAT YOU RECEIVE One early reproduction Confederate “CS” oval waist-belt plate, most likely dating to the 1880s (veteran / souvenir / early collector period — not a wartime 1861–1865 original).
Shown both loose and mounted in a black shadow-box frame over a dramatic Confederate cavalry-in-storm print.
You receive the plate and the framed display as pictured.
PLATE DETAILS
• Oval cast brass plate with raised block “CS” letters and a simple raised border
• Classic enlisted-style Confederate oval form used in later reproductions of wartime types
• Reverse retains period-style hardware: one long bar hook and two arrow / puppy-paw style hooks
• Honest old surface: gray-green oxidation, light verdigris in recesses, small dark spot on the face of the “S,” and wear consistent with age rather than fresh casting
• Hand-held photo included for scale
FRAMED DISPLAY
• Black shadow-box frame
• Background print of Confederate cavalry riding through a lightning storm
• Ready to hang or stand as a finished collector piece
CONDITION Very good for an early reproduction. Letters remain clear and raised. Border is complete. Hooks are present and intact. Surface shows old patina and minor pitting/oxidation — not a shiny modern souvenir. Frame has light handling wear consistent with use. Please review all photos; they are part of the description.
IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ This is sold as an early reproduction, probably 1880s, not as an original Civil War excavated relic and not as a wartime Confederate issue plate.
No battlefield provenance is claimed.
Adult collector item. Sold as-is for display, study, and collecting of 19th-century Confederate-style militaria and early reproductions.
