Early 1900s 8x10 Photograph of African American Woman – Vicksburg, MS – Black Americana
This is a powerful and evocative original 8x10\" photograph dating from the early 1900s, featuring an African American woman. The image is rich in historical depth and cultural context, offering a rare glimpse into Black life in the post-Reconstruction South.
Photographs of this size and clarity from this period—especially featuring African American subjects—are increasingly hard to find. I purchased this from a local estate many years ago, and will provide that information with the shipment to the buyer.
Originally this photograph had glass with the frame. I no longer have the glass, but will include with the purchase the original wood frame, so that you can reframe and add glass if you choose.
Good antique condition with minor edge wear and light surface marks consistent with age. There are some pencil markings on the back, likely made by the photographer - a close up is provided in the photos. On the back of the photo at the top are old marks made by some type of tape that held the photo in the frame.
Buyer to pay shipping. I will package the photograph and the frame carefully in a box and ship promptly.
