Dick Tracy - Police No. 1 comic book is a classic 1947 Golden Age promotional giveaway published by Sig. Feuchtwanger by arrangement with the Famous Artists Syndicate. This 16-page full-color newsprint comic was distributed in the United States as a free mail-in or in-box premium promotion for Popped Wheat cereal. It features classic detective stories written and illustrated by Dick Tracy creator Chester Gould, reprinting comic strips originally published by The Chicago Tribune in 1940.
Dick Tracy Special #1 is a Copper Age comic book published by Blackthorne Publishing, Inc. in January 1988. Subtitled \"The Origins of a Famous Detective\" on the color cover, this 48-page oversized issue serves as an introductory historical showcase for Chester Gould\'s legendary tough-guy investigator.
- The Origin Story: The comic collects and reprints the very first original newspaper comic strips from October to December 1931, documenting Dick Tracy\'s debut on the comics page.
- The Plot: The story kicks off with the brutal murder of Tess Trueheart\'s father and her subsequent abduction by Big Boy Caprice\'s gangsters. Driven by tragedy and a relentless pursuit of justice, Dick Tracy officially joins the police force to hunt them down.
- Format: It features a full-color cover with interior pages printed in classic black-and-white to preserve Chester Gould\'s original line art.
Dick Tracy 3-D #1 Ocean Death Trap! Story, art and cover by Chester Gould. Sometimes listed as Blackthorne 3-D Series (1985) #8. Blackthorne Publishing presents another in its series of 3-D comics, this one featuring a classic adventure of Chester Goulds legendary detective, Dick Tracy. Miss Egghead and The Dropper manage to capture Dick Tracy. They then deposit him in one of the most famous death-traps of all – desolate, abandoned Granite Island, where he struggles to survive with limited resources and the help of a stranded Scotland Yard detective. Meanwhile, Miss Egghead is betrayed by The Dropper, forcing her to depend on Cuban cop Wunbrow to endure a fierce tropical storm. 32 pages, B&W with 3-D effects. I included a pair of 3D glasses I had from the Spy Kids 3D movie, since the original ones were missing from this comic.
