[EYVIND EARLE, DISNEY ARTISTS, SOLDIER PORTRAITS, WWII]
On offer here isthe iconic and ORIGINALPORTRAIT PAINTING BY NOTED DISNEY ARTIST EYVIND EARLE.
The painting rendered on painters canvas measures 18 in x 24 in within a frame measuring 21 in x 27 in. and save for a slight bit of craquelure, is in excellent condition.
Earle is of course much better known for his fabulously detailed and distinctly styled backgrounds for a plethora of Disney films across several decades. However, after Eyvind was drafted into the US Navy before WWII, he was stationed in Florida and applied his talent painting portraits of sailors and officers. According to Earle\'s webpage, he painted some 210 portraits for extra money while he was in the Navy. This portrait is one of those 210.
We do not know exactly who this officer is, but he appears to be a lieutenant in the medical corps. Another hint is a sticker on the rear frame which shows there may have been a frame change in Reno, NV.
All in all, an interesting and curious example of the only traced example of a Military portrait which has survived this era in Earle\'s life.
