A small bronze study of the New York Met's coach Casey Stengel (1890-1975) by American sculptor Rhoda Sherbell, born in New York in 1933. She executed several works for the Baseball Hall of Fame, other portraits and figures. The bronze head- 2" on a simple wood pedestal (overall height 6 1/2"). Signed in pencil on the pedestal: "Rhoda Sherbell/ to Joan Payson". Joan Payson was part owner of the New York Mets. Casey Stengel was manager of the NY Yankees in the 1950's and NY Mets 1962-1965. This bronze was in an estate with a lot of Mets and major league baseball memorabilia.
