This is an important large, Civil War photograph of a young civil war soldier of the 151st regiment, Pennsylvania. A rare and detailed, one of a kind photograph. This photograph was created, and described to have been taken by noted photographer, (Anton) Anthony Berger. (See biography below). Who worked with Mathew Brady. This large exquisite carved period frame, which contains this rare photograph, is notable to this Civil War photographs value!
I have not removed this large 6 by 8 photograph, so there could possibly by inscriptions on the back. There is a raised water mark on bottom front. But is difficult to read, because of the glass cover. The written discription on the back of the frame, came with this, when I purchased it. From an estate in New Jersey. The 1800s period nails, look like they have never been disturbed.
This photograph shows a detailed Civil War scene. With the soldier surrounded by Civil War artifacts. Such as a tent, weapons, pouch etc. Including a detailed backdrop scene of a Civil War \"Iron Clad\" Battleship floating on water. Possibly the Potomic river.

He took many famous photographs of Abraham Lincoln, Generals etc. This 6 by 8 photograph is attached to a period backing, which measures 7.5 by 9.5 inches. One of Anthony Bergers photographs, of Abraham Lincoln. Sold at sale for over $70,000.00.

- Battle of Gettysburg:The 151st was ordered to plug a deadly gap in the Union line on McPherson\'s Ridge and the Lutheran Seminary on July 1, 1863. Despite being inexperienced reserves, they stood their ground and covered the First Corps\' retreat, suffering 337 casualties out of 467 engaged men (about 72%) in a matter of minutes
