CHICAGO & ALTON HANDLAN BUCK BB RAILROAD LANTERN RED CAST SQUARE END PANEL GLOBE.Tall globe railroad lantern manufactured by Handlan Buck, pinch waist insert pot bell bottom version stamped on the lid, "C&ARR" for the Chicago & Alton Railroad. Leaf lid latch version, the frame has good metal. Some typical Buck fatigue stresses in the lid that someone tried to solder from the underside in the past. The frame has the original bail stiffener, leaf lid latch, globe retainer assembly, bail, and comes with the correct and harder to find, smaller height Handlan Buck fuel font, end of the brass burner embossed for maker. One, super tiny pinhole on the underside of the frame. The globe is a beauty, red cast in a square end panel, earlier version embossed, "C&ARR" with the Corning, Cnx logo on the backside. No large chips and no cracks, the globe has great color and a very nice strike. Great piece ready to enjoy on the shelf!
