DescriptionUnusual early 20th-century button or button-material salesman/sample card, believed to date approximately 1910–1930.The card displays 14 beautiful iridescent shell/mother-of-pearl samples in shades of blue, violet, pink, white, green and darker tones. Each position is individually handwritten “Nr. 1” through “Nr. 16.” Two samples are absent, as shown in the photographs.One particularly striking large green two-hole button remains in place, along with an unusual shaped blue shell sample. The card itself has wonderful age, toning and period handwritten identification.No maker’s name or identifying information appears on the reverse. Exact origin and shell materials are unknown and have not been professionally tested, so please examine photographs carefully.Sold exactly as found. The samples have not been removed or altered.A very attractive piece for a collector of antique buttons, sewing notions, haberdashery, textile history or early trade/sample material.
