Up for sale is a rare antique late 19th to early 20th-century Native American Iroquois (Haudenosaunee) beaded souvenir pin cushion / pocket whimsy. Shaped like a boat, this piece features hand-stitched glass seed bead lettering, reading "BOAT" on one side and "FAST" on the other.
The body is crafted from a tan/brown polished cotton fabric, trimmed around the perimeter with clear glass seed beads. The bottom edge is adorned with dangling looped beaded fringe incorporating clear seed beads and amber-toned bugle/tube beads.Good antique condition overall with age-appropriate wear.
Beadwork: The beaded lettering ("BOAT" and "FAST") and edging appear complete and intact. The lower loop fringe is present.
Fabric & Lining: The exterior fabric shows light surface discoloration, minor dust/soiling, and faint age spots consistent with age. The interior fabric pocket lining exhibits light staining/spotting.
