Fascinating Pair of Antique Clam-Shell Utility Clamps ā Original Victorian Skirt Lifters / Salvaged Saloon Bar Towel Holders
Up for sale is a unique piece of history: a matching pair of antique spring-loaded, scalloped clam-shell tongs.
History & Origin:
These pieces feature the classic 1860sā1880s Victorian mechanical design originally patented as skirt lifters. However, this specific pair was salvaged directly from a historic bar (approximately 80+ years old), where they were cleverly repurposed as bar rag/towel holders. One of the clamps still completely retains its original hanging loop and wood-screw attachment, which was used to mount the fixture directly underneath the wooden bar counter for the bartender\'s convenience.Condition & Markings:Markings: Both pieces are entirely unmarked with no visible maker\'s stamps or patent numbers, which is very common for utility hardware from this era. The right piece has been left entirely in its found, uncleaned condition to preserve its authentic saloon patina for the 3 inches in length (refer to photos with tape measure for precise sizing).
This is an incredibly rare cross-over collectible perfect for collectors of Victorian-era fashion, unique industrial hardware, or vintage breweriana/saloon barware. They would make an incredible functional display piece mounted under a modern home bar!
Please review all high-resolution photos carefully as they form the primary description of the items\' cosmetic condition. Ships promptly and securely.
