The \"DÉPOSÉ\" Stamp: The word \"DÉPOSÉ\" is French for \"Registered\" or \"Patented\" (short for Modèle Déposé). It was widely stamped on late-19th-century French luxury porcelain blanks, most famously from the Limoges region. It indicates that the unique, gently squared structural mold or design shape of this blank was legally registered by the manufacturing factory.
The Overglaze Studio Art: The piece remains a beautifully preserved artifact from the 1880s China Painting Movement. A highly skilled independent studio decorator or amateur artisan bought this pristine French blank, hand-painted the beautiful forget-me-nots and rare spiderweb pattern, signed it with the red script monogram \"JR\", and dated it 1887 before firing it one last time
The back of the dish features a hand-painted red monogram \"JR\" paired with an explicit date code of 1887 and a small cross or painter\'s mark. This elegant monogram belongs to the renowned Julius Dressler art ceramics factory (founded in Bílina, Bohemia, which was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire during the late 19th century).
