This genuine Victorian antique pressed glass divided dish serves as a captivating piece of British royal history, meticulously crafted to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887. The highly detailed, dual-oval "sweetheart" layout features prominent, mirror-image St. Edward's Crowns nestled in stippled backgrounds, proudly displaying the embossed dates "1837" and "1887" alongside the inscription "ROYAL JUBILEE". Rich with the romantic sentimentality of the era, the clear glass is beautifully accented by a scalloped, stippled rim, a central diamond-point panel, and elegantly stylized heart-shaped handles integrated seamlessly into each end. Over 135 years old, this rare commemorative relish or trinket tray catches the light magnificently, making it an exceptional display centerpiece for any serious British monarchy collector, an eye-catching vanity tray for fine jewelry, or a striking conversation starter in a curated antique glassware collection.
The double dish is approximately 7 inches x 6 inches x 1 inch. It is in excellent antique shape with one blemish on the bottom center (I am not quite sure if it’s actually a blemish or if that was the way the dish was made as other photos I’ve seen show something similar - nevertheless I have pointed it out in the photo with the finger and it does not “go through” to the top as the top of the dish is smooth and completely clear of blemishes). Please see photos.
It is a truly lovely and solid piece.
