Rare Pre-Prohibition Porcelain Beer Bottle Stopper - Santa Clara County Bottling Co.
Up for sale is an authentic Pre-Prohibition era porcelain beer bottle stopper from the Santa Clara County Bottling Co. in San Jose, California.
These stoppers were commonly used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries before the widespread adoption of the metal crown cap.
The top of the stopper features the text "SANTA CLARA COUNTY BOT." along with a graphic of a bear and a mug. The reverse/neck area is marked "PAT'D K. HUTIER FEB. 7 1893," referring to the original patent date for this style of closure.
