A Victorian brass letter scale by R W Winfield of Birmingham, England. The scale is fitted with an ornate cast brass base, cylindrical spring balance body and circular weighing platform. Graduated ounce markings are visible through the front viewing window, allowing the weight to be read from the moving indicator within.
General age-related wear, surface marks and patina are present throughout. There are areas of oxidation, discolouration and verdigris to the brass. The scale retains its internal spring and moving indicator mechanism. It has not been tested for accuracy and is therefore sold as a decorative and collectible example.
