This original matching pair was examined in person by a Native American artifact specialist at American Trails in Ashland, Oregon.
Based on the construction, materials, floral beadwork style, and age characteristics, the moccasins were identified as examples from the Great Lakes Woodland region, with a possible Cree attribution.
The specialist also indicated that the hide construction, canvas uppers, leather lacing, and floral glass seed beadwork all appear to be original to the moccasins.
These moccasins display the beautiful floral beadwork traditionally associated with the Woodland tribes of the Great Lakes region.
The blue floral designs with green leaves are executed in colorful glass seed beads on dark cloth panels and remain vibrant despite more than a century of age.
The hand-crafted workmanship and honest wear suggest they were made for actual use rather than as later souvenir pieces.
