An exceptional and highly collectible piece of 19th-century Scottish Mauchline Ware. This cylindrical wood tube functions as a protective sewing needle case. The front features a crisp, dark transfer print of the interior of Robert Burns’ cottage.
The tube features a precision-fit interlocking opening right through the center of the scenes when fully closed, the transfer alignments match up seamlessly. The reverse side features a beautifully preserved, multi-line printed poetic stanza from Burns’ famous 1785 autobiographical work, “There Was a Lad: “He’ll hae misfortunes great and sma’
