I\'ve decided to leave as I found, for being 190 years old she looks Marvelous and needs not a facelift but, you decide.
Cleaning an antique is a delicate decision. While many collectors prefer the original, centuries-old patina, light cleaning to remove surface grime can improve its display appeal. I did lightly wipe off with mild dish soap any dirt or dust and sanitized.
Collectors value the \"authentic patina\" and like to decide for themselves if they want to restore the shine. Avoid silver polish, which can damage the softer pewter.
See all Photos for any detailed description of any dents or \"character marks\" Body has 2 lite dents and the spout tiny bump at the tip, Lid and hinge work like new but, seriously it\'s in great antique condition, worth every penny for the right home.
The maker’s mark (also called a \"touchmark\") located on the underside of the base. Stamped \"Leonard, Reed And Barton\", with the # 5 for 5 Cup capacity and the Model # 3000 clearly visible.
