Up for sale is an exquisite antique European miniature portrait plaque on a circular porcelain blank, depicting the iconic French monarch, Queen Marie Antoinette. This finely executed piece draws inspiration from the legendary 18th-century court paintings by Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun.
The portrait shows the Queen adorned with a soft powdered wig wrapped in a pastel pink rose garland and a light blue silk ribbon. Her facial features are beautifully blended, wearing a draped cream-white chemise and a soft yellow mantle set against an atmospheric grey-blue background sky.
