Antique Hand-Carved Chinese Dragon Cigarette Holder 19th/Early 20th CenturyThis is an elaborately hand-carved antique cigarette holder featuring a dragon head and scales along the shaft measuring approximately 7 inches long and about 1/3\" wide. The cigarette fits right into the open mouth of the dragon. Believed to be made of bone or antler (we don\'t think it\'s ivory since it no obvious \"engine-turned\" pattern is easily visible, but it could be...you\'d need to have an expert look at it). Based on all the research I can find, it dates back to the late 19th or early 20th century.Perfect for collectors of Asian antiques, decorative art enthusiasts, or as a unique historical display item.#Tobacciana #Smoking #Antique #Vintage #Culture #Style #Dragon #Asian #Art #Collectible
APPROX MEASUREMENTS:7\" long x 1/3\" wide
CONDITION: Comes in good, used, pre-owned antique condition with noted signs of age-appropriate wear and discoloration from use as shown in photos * Note that one \"ear\" is missing on Dragon\'s right side, some small chipping around the mouth where the cigarette is held, and what looks to be a hairline down one side but has no impact on function.
PROVENANCE: This piece has been in my family for a few generations now from a world-travelling family member that emigrated from the UK in the 1960\'s.
