A courtepointe-fenetre quilt is a bedcover with a central (window) section which is bordered. If you are curious about these wonderful Provencal quilts, see my separate listing for the book: Quilts of Provence, The Art and Craft of French Quiltmaking by Kathryn Berenson who once owned this very quilt.
This beautiful piece has two distinct sides. The front consists of a tiny rose picotage print bordering a toile-like red and white cotton center in a fabric possibly from the Mulhouse region. The back consists of a gold twill border surrounding a millwork print from approximately 1820. Completely hand stitched, it has a heavy cotton batting.
The condition is very good/excellent. It has very minor wear to the border and very minor staining. It has been well conserved.
