Antique French set of 12 glass positive stereoscopic slides featuring works from the Vatican Museum.
Slides are numbered 37 through 46 and 48 through 49. Slide #47 is not included.
The slides retain their original long storage box labeled “POSITIFS SUR VERRE POUR LE STÉRÉOSCOPE ET LA PROJECTION,” with the side identified “MUSEE DU VATICAN (5).” An interior label references Lumière warm-tone positive photographic plates.
Individual slides have printed identification labels. Slide #37, for example, depicts Raphael’s “The Fire in the Borgo” and is labeled “Stances de Raphaël / L’Incendie du Borgo.”
The inside of the box is stamped 61527. The significance of this number is unknown.
Thin protective paper sleeves/interleaving are present with the slides.
Antique condition with age-related wear to the glass slides, labels, protective papers and storage box. Box shows wear from age and storage. Please review all photos carefully for condition and individual subjects.
