A rare and well documented pewter porringer by Samuel Danforth with its scrollwork handle having his eagle touch mark, circa 1800. This was deaccessioned from the San Francisco Fine Arts Museum, tagged and marked with catalog numbers. It previously was in the collection of renowned pewter author John B. Kerfoot. He wrote the book “American Pewter”, an indispensable resource for collectors. It is very likely that this porringer is referenced in one of Kerfoot’s publications. It is in good condition considering age with typical pitting/marks/surface wear, areas of worn details, patinated surface, etc. Measurements show of the width of the porringer both with and without the handle. Please see all photos for condition. This is a fine piece for your Americana collection!!!
