Up for sale is a rare and highly unique antique novelty inkwell shaped like a Victorian shoe with beautifully detailed walnuts clustered on top. This is an exceptional example of hand-carved Black Forest folk art / treenware that serves as a whimsical, functional desk accessory. [1]The shoe measures approximately 7 inches long and features a dark finish on the exterior contrasting beautifully with the natural wood grain on the inside. Lifting the brass-hinged walnut lid reveals a dual-chamber interior: a round compartment toward the heel holding the metal inkwell reservoir, and a second carved compartment near the toe meant for holding steel pen nibs or postage stamps.
