Delve into the sacred past with this Antique Blessed Giacomo Da Bitetto Prayer Card, measuring 4\" x 2.5\". Unearthed from the inner pocket of a purse, carefully stowed away in the back corner of an attic belonging to a Hungarian-Italian family who immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s, this card carries an exceptional background that adds to its mystique.
The card bears a profound message that reads, in part: \"Glorious B. Giacomo, with the deepest of our affections, we implore your patronage. We turn to you, filled with holy trust, knowing how great your intercession is for those who trust in you.\" The heartfelt words express a deep connection to the divine, promising to live and die as Christians in gratitude for the grace sought.
The history of Giacomo Varinguez is equally remarkable. Born in Croatia in the early 1400s, he became a humble friar and cook, known for his charitable deeds during the plague of 1483. His extraordinary miracles, including a tree growing from his planted staff and his fully intact body on display since 1505, culminated in Pope Clement XI proclaiming him blessed in 1700.
