Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible 12-1/2 inch genuine antique pewter platter / large wide-rim charger. This impressive, heavy piece features highly desirable, clear pseudo-hallmarks stamped directly onto the front rim—a traditional 18th to early 19th-century practice used by master European pewter smiths to mimic fine English sterling silver.
**Hallmark Breakdown:**
• Center: A prominent raised Crown emblem (signifying high-quality alloy metal).
• Letters: Flanked by the master pewterer initials "H" and "B".
• Markings: Double incised vertical tally lines to the left of the crown stamping.
**Aesthetic & Style:**
Measuring at a massive 12.5 inches in diameter, this charger has a wonderful heavy weight and a deep, authentic historical patina. It boasts a gorgeous soft gray luster that only centuries of age can produce, complete with honest surface scratches, light hammer-finishing marks, and a classic wide rolled rim edge. It makes an incredible standalone centerpiece or focal accent piece for rustic farmhouse, colonial reproduction, or dark academia interior displays.
**Condition:**
Authentic antique condition. Shows beautiful, honest wear from centuries of handling, surface utensil scuffs, and a rich dark patina on the reverse. No major structural bends, cracks, or breaks. The metal remains thick, heavy, and structurally sound. Please review all high-resolution photos closely for exact cosmetic details.
