Antique 1879 George Wostenholm IXL Straight Razor Sheffield England with Box

📸 DESCRIPTION:
This antique straight razor was crafted by George Wostenholm & Sons of Sheffield, England, one of the most celebrated cutlery manufacturers of the 19th century. It features the maker’s mark “GEORGE WOSTENHOLM & SONS CELEBRATED IXL RAZOR WASHINGTON WORKS SHEFFIELD” etched into the tang, with the iconic IXL sunburst logo finely engraved along the blade. The razor includes its original leather-covered wooden box, also marked “REAL IXL”, adding authenticity and provenance. The handwritten note on the end of the case reads “H.S. Ward Falls Pa. 1877,” giving a clear historical tie to a Pennsylvania owner of the era. The handle appears to be black horn or early celluloid, typical of Wostenholm’s high-end razors from the late 1800s. This piece represents true English craftsmanship and is ideal for collectors of antique razors, Sheffield steel, or Victorian barbering tools.

🛠 CONDITION:
