The product is an abalone shell from New Zealand known as Paua. This collectible item showcases the beauty and uniqueness of the ocean, particularly the South Pacific region. With its iridescent and intricate design, this shell serves as a beautiful decorative piece that can add a touch of elegance to any space. Whether displayed in a collection or used in a creative project, this piece of New Zealand\'s natural beauty is sure to be a standout feature.
Paua is the Māori name for a large, edible sea snail found exclusively in the coastal waters of New Zealand, known globally as a species of abalone. This marine gastropod, primarily Haliotis iris, is a highly valued resource. It is celebrated both for its firm, flavorful meat, prized as a delicacy, and for its shell’s unique, vibrant beauty, which has significant commercial and aesthetic value.
I brought several of these shells back from NZ and I have retired from jewelry making so they are up for sale. They came from Kaikoura, on the east coast of the South Island.
