This is an ANTIQUE WWI 314TH INFANTRY REGIMENT GROUP PHOTO of COMPANY D (79th Division, U.S. Army)showing the SURVIVORS after the Meuse-Argonne offensive(in the TROYON sector) in which 362 men of the 314th Infantry were lost.
The bottom of the photo says:“Co. D 314th Infantry 1919 ‘JUST BACK FROM FRANCE’ MEUSE ARGONNE – TROYON SECTOR – VALLEY OF THE MEUSE”
The photo was taken in New Jersey when they returned home, likely at Camp Dix.
It is a "yard-long" panoramic photograph, likely made with a rotating panoramic/Cirkut-type camera.
The photo is 34x10".
