5" RARE Vtg 1979 Irish Dresden Ltd Ed Bisque Porcelain Bust Of Pope John Paul II
Measures approx. 5 1/4 inches tall. Marked on the underside.
I contacted the Irish Dresden Factory in Ireland, sent photos of this piece and asked if they had any additional information. Here is the response I received:
"I am in the factory right now and looked at our archives.. This bust of His Holiness Pope John Paul II was specially made for his visit to Ireland October 1979. It was a limited edition, but I could not find how many were made. From memory not more than 100. So you have a very special piece indeed."
I searched all over the internet, but could not find another example of this piece.
No chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. Minor wear consistent with age, use and storage. Please refer to photos.
