HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The two 1890–91 car reports come from the Central New England and Western Railroad, formed in July 1889 around the newly opened Poughkeepsie Bridge over the Hudson River. The company operated the \"Poughkeepsie Bridge Route\" between Hartford, Connecticut and Campbell Hall, New York — and lasted barely three years before consolidation in August 1892, eventually becoming part of the New York, New Haven & Hartford system. Paperwork bearing the CNE&W name comes from that brief independent window. All four documents carry the Silvernails, New York station name in period handwriting — the junction of the Poughkeepsie & Connecticut and Rhinebeck & Connecticut railroads.
