Rare Carioca Napkins.
Previously glued to a portion of scrapbook page. Ephemera from scrapbook dated c. 1930's to early 1940's.
Some residual damage from page removal.
Founding and Peak (1937): Compañia Ron Carioca opened its major production facility in Puerto Rico. At the time of its opening, it was celebrated as the largest distillery in the West Indies.
During its mid-century heyday, Carioca positioned itself aggressively in the American market as a versatile, accessible rum perfect for the booming "Tiki cocktail" culture.
The company frequently distributed vibrant, tropically themed bar ephemera like the napkins shown above to popularize Caribbean drinks. They focused heavy advertising on mid-century staples like the Carioca Zombie (traditionally combining high-proof rums) and the Carioca Daiquiri (advertised to be elegantly served in a champagne glass).
Good condition as pictured, some damage and large creases from being stored in a scrapbook for 80+ years. Would likely lay flat under glass. One has tanning discoloration.
Any questions just ask. Will ship with extra care.
