Original Vintage 1978 Staatliches Hofbräuhaus State Brewery Restaurant Menu Platzl 9 Munich München Germany
The Hofbräuhaus began on September 27, 1589, when Duke Wilhelm V founded a ducal court brewery in Munich to supply the Wittelsbach court, and it moved to its present site at the Platzl in 1608. Ordinary drinkers were shut out until 1828, when King Ludwig I opened the house to the public; its guests over the centuries have included Mozart, Empress Elisabeth and Josephine Baker. Brewing left the Platzl in 1896 for Haidhausen, and the rebuilt tavern reopened on the old site on February 9, 1897. Largely destroyed by bombing in the Second World War, the building was reconstructed by 1958 and holds about 3,000 guests indoors with another 400 in its beer garden.
It measures 14\" x 10\" closed and 20\" x 14\" open
