Original vintage 35mm color transparency showing a striking 1978 view of the Old Courthouse and Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri.
The photograph is especially well composed, with the Gateway Arch rising directly behind and visually framing the historic domed Old Courthouse. A large fountain and statue occupy the foreground, while the surrounding downtown buildings document the late-1970s St. Louis skyline.
The original slide mount is handwritten “OLD COURT BLDG / ST. LOUIS, MO.” and stamped NOV 78H, providing a period date of November 1978.
The combination of two major St. Louis landmarks, the fountain, downtown skyline and strong symmetrical composition makes this a particularly attractive period travel and architectural photograph.
