Kennedy’s Cape Canaveral visit formed part of his inspection of the expanding American space program immediately before his September 12, 1962 Rice University speech. The inclusion of John Glenn, only months after his historic Friendship 7 orbital flight, gives the group additional significance as an original period photographic record of the early space program and the Kennedy administration.
The slides remain in their original Ektachrome cardboard mounts and are housed in plastic slide pages. They show generally strong color and image quality for their age, with some scattered dust, surface marks, fading, mount wear, and other normal signs of storage and handling.
