Original 1945 World War II scrapbook compiled as a school project.
This scrapbook includes approximately 46 pages, most with period newspaper and magazine clippings related to World War II. Content includes wartime maps, military aircraft, ships, carriers, shipyards, blimps, naval scenes, Pacific and European theater coverage, and other WWII-era images and articles. One page includes a wartime image of Japanese prisoners of war aboard a military transport aircraft.
This was created by the original owner while he was in primary school in 1945. Estate provenance indicates the project remained with him for the rest of his life. He later became an aerospace/rocket engineer, worked in Japan on rocket design, testing, and launches, and later contributed to space shuttle-related work and NASA spaceflight assessment efforts.
Approximate measurements:
Scrapbook: 11\" wide x 14\" tall
Pages: 46 paper condition with age toning, brittle page edges, chipping, tears, detached/loose areas, old adhesive marks, and overall deterioration consistent with wartime-era scrapbook paper and newspaper clippings.
