Originating from the personal album of pioneering American botanist and phycologist William Randolph Taylor, he is clearly visible on the far left, numbered as 11, sporting glasses, a three-piece suit, and high-top lace-up boots. Every individual on the steps is meticulously numbered from 1 to 16 to correspond with an archival roster.The photograph was captured during the summer of 1920 at the prestigious Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. The group showcases classic early 1920s academic fashion, including high-collared blouses, knickers, formal suits, and bow ties worn by the young scientists. The lower border of the print features a clear handwritten negative inscription reading, Botany Staff & Students 1920, and the reverse side is inscribed with, Summer 1920 Woods Hole, Mass.3.75\"X 4.50\"~photo4.75\"X7.00\"~overall size scrapbook papergreat condition~attached to scrapbook to keep provenance.
