Wonderful antique Halloween postcard published by Leubrie & Elkus, featuring a witch riding through the night alongside a large grinning jack-o’-lantern, flying bats, and a bright yellow moon. The front reads “On Halloween” and “Beware of ye spells of Witchcraft.”
What makes this card especially interesting is its unusual cloth/fabric-like textured surface, giving the image the appearance of being printed on woven material rather than a typical smooth postcard stock.
The reverse is marked Printed in Germany, No. 7018.Card is postally used with original stamp, handwritten message and address, and a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania postmark that appears to date to 1912.
Strong classic Halloween imagery with witchcraft, bats, moon and pumpkin motifs, plus the unusual textured construction. A distinctive piece for collectors of antique Halloween postcards, Leubrie & Elkus cards, German-printed holiday ephemera, or early 1900s Halloween imagery.
Condition: Antique used condition with age-related wear, light corner/edge wear and toning consistent with age. Textured surface remains visually striking. Please review photos carefully for exact condition.
